A sneak peak at the new Range Rover Velar

So over the weekend we had an invitation to go and meet the new Range Rover Velar at Hunters Land Rover, Preston and it didn’t disappoint!

We have had a lot of interest in this car since Land Rover announced the new family member in March 2017. From the initial look at the Velar it is an obvious member of the Range Rover family with trademark features such as the wrap around headlights, u-shaped front grill and sloping roof along with new features of the flush door handles that only slide out when approaching the car.

The Velar was the R Dynamic HSE model that boasts the following upgrades:

  • 21" 10 spoke allow wheels with Satin Dark Grey finish
  • Perforated Windsor leather seats 20-way seats with driver/passenger memory massage and heated/cooled front (including rear armrest and power recline)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist and High-Speed Emergency Braking
  • Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Speed Limiter
  • Blind Spot Assist & Park Assist
  • Interactive Driver Display
  • Matrix LED headlights with Signature Daytime Running Lights
  • R-Dynamic treadplates
  • Ebony Morzine headlining
  • Powered gesture tailgate
  • Auto-dimming, power fold, heated door mirrors with approach lights
  • Leather Steering Wheel with Chrome Bezel
  • Smartphone Pack
  • Keyless Entry
  • Unique front and rear bumper design
  • Shadow Aluminium trim
  • Navigation Pro
  • Rear View Camera
  • Heated windscreen

Moving to the interior there is the Touch Pro Duo - two 10” high definition touchscreens with optional head up display that moves forward when the engine is started, the consoles can be used simultaneously giving flexibility by controlling the sat nav in the upper screen and the media or air conditioning in the lower screen. There is a third display in the dashboard which displays the speedo and rev counter and also where the driver can control calls or media. This car had the optional rear seat entertainment system which features two 8” screens in the headrests that can play movies and TV channels, which are controlled independently. There is 1 x HDMI port, 2 x USB ports and a Mobile High Definition Link that supports most smart phones and tables.

Although we didn’t get to test drive it we are hoping to get our hands on one very soon so keep an eye out for our test drive review! The price of the Velar starts from £44,000 with the R Dynamic model starting from £52,840 which sets its place directly between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. Its competitors are the Jaguar F Pace, Porsche Macan, BMW X6 & the Mercedes GLE Coupe.

We currently have some great offers on the Velar so take a look here or call the office and speak to one of the team on 01772 728000.
